Could Your Pet Be Overweight?

Regularly bringing your dog or cat to a veterinarian for checkups and providing him with consistent pet grooming can both go a long way in promoting your pet’s health. Many people don’t realize how great a role weight plays in their pet’s wellness. Watch this video to learn if your pet could be at an unhealthy weight.

To determine if your pet could be overweight, start by running your fingers along the sides of his rib cage. If there doesn’t seem to be too much fat, then this is a sign that he’s at a healthy weight. Cats and dogs should have a visible waist. If your pet’s body doesn’t appear narrower past his rib cage and in front of his hips, this is an indication it can be overweight.
